Intelligently Defending UFC 100 Dream Card Contest

Intelligently Defending is giving you the chance to make your UFC 100 Dream Card using any fighter in UFC history – logic and feasibility be damned.   The entrant with the best card will receive a kick-ass MMA prize package.

See below for rules and prizes.

Rules:

Note: Failure to comply by these rules will automatically disqualify your entry.  You will be alerted one time if your form is incorrect and given a chance to fix it.   I won’t send back a second incorrect form since complying with these guidelines isn’t rocket science.

1) Your card must have 10 fights total and must include 2 fights from each weight class – Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight, Light-Heavyweight and Heavyweight.  You must indicate which weight-class each of your fights will be contested in.

2) Of these 10 fights they must be broken up into: 5 prelim bouts and 5 main card bouts – also, your main card must indicate a co-main event and a main event.

3) All fights will be 3 rounds with the exception of your co-main event and main event which will be 5 rounds.

4) In order to use a fighter they must have had at least ONE fight in the UFC – sorry, no Fedor allowed.

5) In order for a fighter to compete in a weight-class they must have had at least ONE fight in that division.

Note: These fights can have happened in any organization. For example, in 2004, B.J. Penn moved up to 185lbs to fight Rodrigo Gracie in K-1 – so Penn can be used as a middleweight on your UFC 100 card. Make sense?

Note: Refer to weight classes they fought in later in their careers for any fighters who were already gone from the UFC by the time the unified rules came around – i.e. Royce Gracie, Dan Severn etc.

6) It is assumed that all fighters will be competing in their prime.

For example: If you choose Ken Shamrock you will be getting him when he was still the “World’s Most Dangerous Man” not his current incarnation of the “World’s Biggest Joke”.   The same goes for current fighters – if you choose Chuck Liddell, you will get the Chuck Liddell of a few years ago and not the current Liddell.

7) Fighters can only fight once per card – so no tournaments.

8.) There is no stopping you from pairing up two fighters regardless if they are friends/teammates.

Entries will be judged on:

1) Creativity: Did you think outside the box in coming up with your fights?

2) Use of resources: Did you explore all your options when choosing the available fighters?

3) Card structure: Is your main event the biggest fight on your card?  Does the co-main event make sense as a five round fight?

Send entries to dreamcardcontest@gmail.com.

All entries will be due by JULY 6, 2009 with the winner to be announced on JULY 10, 2009.

Prizes:

The winner of this contest will be sent:

Note: All prizes will be brand spankin’ new.

1) UFC Octagon by Kevin Lynch

This is the hardcover photography book the UFC came out with last year.

Note: This will be the normal hardcover edition and not the $2,500 deluxe version – that’s a little too rich for Intelligently Defending’s blood.

2) Choke DVD

This is the highly acclaimed, and somewhat rare, Rickson Gracie documentary from 1999. A must see for all MMA fans.

3) UFC Ultimate Comebacks DVD

This action packed DVD includes the following full-length fights:

1. Pete Sell vs Scott Smith
2. Alessio Sakara vs Drew McFedries
3. Martin Kampmann vs Drew McFedries
