Is there a bigger TUF asshole than Jeremy May? Yes.

Junie Browning.

Watching the episode last night, I felt bad for the guy since he clearly has some sort of imbalance. The way to he went from drunk asshole, to relaxed, to crying, back to drunk asshole was amazing. I know that the power of editing makes a lot of this stuff seem different from what actually happens, but it seemed pretty clear cut last night.

I can understand Dana not kicking him off for the pool incident because he didn’t swing at anyone and the cut he caused on the one guys arm wasn’t a big deal. After he jumped in the cage though, I can only imagine he gets the boot.

Here’s hoping…

Evan Tanner: 1971-2008

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

A very sad day for MMA.

Tanner was truly a pioneer of the sport and debuted at UFC 18 which is insane.

Unfortunately, I can’t find a video of it - but my favorite Tanner moment has to be his fight with Terrell. The term ‘taken to the woodshed’ has never been more appropriately used when describing a fight. It was a man beating up on a boy and the looked of bewilderment on the young Terrell’s face as the wily vet Tanner dished out the punishment was a sight to behold…

Lay Off Timmy

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

“But we all have to thank him for getting rid of Tim Sylvia. He’d been stinking out the joint the last couple of years and Fedor did everyone a favor by beating him so easily and getting rid of him.”

Stay classy, Dana!

You know, it’s hard to feel sorry for a man who about a month ago made $800,000 for 36 seconds of work – but damn, was this really necessary?

Was Tim wearing the UFC Heavyweight Title everywhere he went obnoxious? Damn right, but theres something I like about how much he enjoyed being champion.

Is Tim a boring fighter? For the most part, but I give him props for having figured out a way to win fights by playing to his stregnths despite having little natural ability.

He is a lovable doofus. Besides, can you really hate the guy after watching this video?

Irvin Not Looking So Good At After-Party

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

James Irvin seems like a really classy and all-around cool dude.

He is a very good fighter who has made it far in the world of MMA.

He stepped up where others didn’t and took the fight with Anderson.

He would whoop my ass in under 10 seconds.

With all that said…

Goddamn that is nasty. Kudos to him for still being up to party with what looks to be a third eye-socket.

He’ll be back.

Silva vs. Irvin Thoughts

- So I eat my words about Dollaway/Taylor going to a decision. Seriously though, who the hell saw that fight ending with a Peruvian neck tie?!? Props to Dollaway who I still think can do big things.

- I’m still baffled as to how the Anthony Johnson fight was not ruled a DQ. It was clear as crystal that Johnson was hurt by the eye poke and not the uppercut – I really would like an explanation for this. I would not be surprised at all if the decision gets overturned in the next few days.

- That was utter destruction by my main man Cain Velasquez. The guy is hyped big-time, but thus far it looks justified. He is still super young in the sport with only 4 fights so I think he will get another middle-of-the-road opponent before he gets a contender. Sounds like a job for Antoni Hardonk.

- Frankie is back on track with that dominating performance against a wily-vet in Franca. Outside of the armbar attempt in the 1st and getting rocked late in the 3rd, Frankie was never in trouble. He also did some more damage on the ground than I thought he would be able to do against the BJJ Black Belt. Most of his wins are coming by decision, but Griffin, Fisher and Franca are tough to finish so we won’t worry about this habit just yet.

- Let’s give Vera a break on that performance since it was his 205 debut. The question is will he be back at 205?

- You know how I said that Fedor guy was pretty good? Well, that Anderson Silva guy isn’t bad either. Good Lord that was brutal. I would love to see him stay at 205 despite his intentions not to. I really want to see him fight Chuck.

Something About A Car Chase?

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

So did anyone else hear about this fighter getting himself in trouble with the police?

Honestly, I think anything that could have been said has been said already, so I won’t bother commenting. This is a bizarre story to say the least — I’m intrigued for the all the facts to come out.

Here’s hoping for the best for all involved…

Cain Velasquez to fight Jake O’Brien at UFC July 19th Event

Cain Velasquez vs. Jake O’Brien at UFN 14

I am a fan of Jake O’Brien and I am happy to see the UFC bring him back. He is a rising star with a lot of potential.

With that said, Jake is catching an ass-whoopin at the hands of my maaaaaain man Cain Velasquez.

Velasquez is in his early 20’s and is a two-time All-American wrestler from Arizona State. He is also in the right camp with American Kickboxing Academy where excellent wrestlers are molded into true mixed martial artists. See: Fitch, Jon and Koscheck, Josh.

Hopefully, this is on the televised portion of the show unlike Cain’s first UFC fight which was relegated to the prelims.
