Video Wednesday

It’s Wednesday so let’s go to the videotape

Wednesday MMA Video

Props to my main man Ryan for this one as he sent through Jeremy Horn’s first MMA fight. Which happened to take place in a warehouse. We’re in 1996 here so that puts Horn at about 21-years-old.

While we’re on the subject, Jeremy Horn is the man. He was a staple of the early Miletich camp, gave Chuck Liddell his first loss and holds an 86-19-5 record. That’s bona fide badass, my friends.

Here’s the vid:

Wednesday Random Video

This one cracks me up every time. That monkey, I tell you, what a pisser. This thing looks like Silva vs. Maia in Abu Dhabi.

Wednesday Wire Video

In this one, the boys at The Pit eat some McNuggets and D’Angelo has a pretty memorable rant.

You know, D had a ton of knowledge. It’s a shame he got caught up in The Game because I have the feeling he could have really made something of himself if he grew up under different circumstances. In the end, he wasn’t cut out for a life of hustlin. Neither were Poot or Wallace for that matter. They were just three young cats in over their heads.

Wednesday Music Video

I saw my boys at Closed at Sunset play a reunion show this weekend – so how about we watch one of their vids. Here’s a little Bandit Crue for your bitchasses…

UFC 119 picks tomorrow and make sure you read if you’re looking to throw down some money because I think all five main card underdogs are live.

Stay lucky,
Ken

Mick Jagger and Peter Tosh - Walk & Don’t Look Back

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

I’ve been groovin on this video the last few days. I can’t help but think that Mick may have been under the influence of drugs during the filming.

And, for no real reason, here’s Cutty.

Try to get in some MMA goodness tomorrow.

Stay lucky,
Ken

Military Reunion Goodness

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

I’d like to preface this by saying that I am an alpha male who oozes machismo and would kick the ass of anyone reading this.  And since I’m hiding behind a keyboard, I’d say there ain’t much you can do to dispute this… How you like dem apples, tough guy?

With that said, I’ll be damned if this video didn’t bring a tear to even the manliest beefcakes such as myself.

USA! USA! USA!

Jersey Shore thoughts tomorrow.

GTL! GTL! GTL!

Stay lucky,
Ken

Kenny f’ing Powers

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Post-mortem is coming along at a snails pace so I’m going to finish up tomorrow.

In the meantime, how about some Kenny Powers?

New season starts in September from what I’m told.  New Always Sunny and Eastbound seasons in the same month?  In the words of Wooderson - ‘alright, alright, alright.’

Roger Huerta and Vigilante Justice

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

I’m not the biggest Roger Huerta fan, but kudos to him for laying a beatdown on some assclown who decided to Snooki some poor woman outside what appears to be a Texas night club.

Check out the video.

Ole, Matador.

UFC 117 picks tomorrow.

Stay lucky,
Ken

Guido Sensation - future of MMA?

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Alright, I realize I’m a little late to the dance on this one, but above is the Guido Sensation. Probably one of the toughest mutha f*ckers you know – at least according to this video.

I’m really not sure why Greg Jackson or American Top Team haven’t brought this guy in yet. They could probably get a package deal for him and the dude posing with the sunglasses in exchange for a case of Patron.

I took a look at the Sherdog fight finder and couldn’t get any records on how the bouts with the ‘roommate’, ‘the teachers’, ‘the professors’, ‘the f*cking RAs’ or ‘da deans’ went – I guess they were non-sanctioned affairs. Oh well.

Still, I like this guy’s style and if his heart is half the size of his mouth we may have a future World Champ.

Long Island, represent.

Stay lucky,
Ken

P.S.: I found this clown by watching Tosh.O. I was skeptical of the show at first, but its actually pretty damn funny – so check it out.

New women’s MMA reality show… No, seriously.

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

The final quote of this video:

“Women’s MMA is about to explode – and we’re going to capture it.”
- Host of this show and supermodel I have never heard of.

False.

Look, I ordered the Cyborg vs. Carano fight and I watch basically anytime Cyborg is allowed to destroy some helpless foe – but no one cares about women’s MMA on a whole.  They don’t care for the same reason no one cares about the WNBA, LPGA, WPTA or any other women’s sport on the planet – its second rate as compared to men’s sports.  Even the lowest-grade ‘Strikeforce: Challengers’ card is going to be a better showcase of MMA than the most stacked women’s card.

In any event, I’m not exactly sure what this show is going for.  It doesn’t look like they actually fight – it seems to me they just train and profile the fighters.  What purpose that is going to serve I have no idea.

But hey, at least Bas is hosting.

And yes, I realize every fighter on this show, and probably even the woman host would kick my ass – so don’t bother pointing it out.

Ramblings on Chael Sonnen

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

There are tumbleweeds blowing through the MMA landscape at the moment. I’m starting to get withdrawal shakes.

Fear not, pretty soon we’ll hit a jam-packed August that includes the following fights:

- Jon Jones vs. Vladimir Matyushenko (UFC on Versus 2)
- Mark Munoz vs. Yushin Okami (UFC on Versus 2)
- Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen (UFC 117)
- Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida (UFC 117)
- Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch (UFC 117)
- Junios Two Saints vs. Roy Nelson (UFC 117)
- Dominick Cruz vs. Joseph Benavidez (WEC 50)
- Muhammed Lawal vs. Rafael Cavalcante (Strikeforce: Houston)
- Tim Kennedy vs. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (Strikeforce: Houston)
- Frankie Edgar vs. B.J. Penn (UFC 118)
- Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard (UFC 118)
- Randy Couture vs. James Toney (UFC 118)
- Nate Marquardt vs. Rousimar Palhares (UFC 118)
- Marcus Davis vs. Nate Diaz (UFC 118)

Goodness gracious – I just ruined my pants.

In the meantime, the post front may be kind of slow around here so I figured I’d share a video of rambling-jackass extraordinaire Chael Sonnen. (Props to Ariel Helwani for posting this on his YouTube.)

After his last fight with Maia I officially exited the Anderson Silva bandwagon, but Sonnen has brought me back. I want nothing more than for the Spider to smash him.

Here’s my beef with this guy’s shtick – it is the most contrived garbage I have ever heard.

He is clever guy and pretty quick-witted so he decided to play the trash-talk card. Fine – there are some fighters who talk trash that I still like – Brock, Koscheck and a younger Phil Baroni. Those guys feed off emotion and you believe they are sincere - no matter how stupid they sound. With Chael, it sounds like he’s been practicing in front of a mirror for hours. Pathetic.

The most frustrating part about this smear campaign is that it has tricked people into thinking he’s good. Newsflash – he’s not.

A record of 24-10-1 is nothing to sneeze at, but it’s not what most champions or #1 contenders sport. He holds a pedestrian 4-3 UFC record, has not finished a fight since 2007 and has not finished a fight in UFC or WEC, period. Fact is, he is a very one-dimensional wrestler which hasn’t been discussed because the mutants on the Sherdog forums are too busy discussing his audio clips instead of making their usual ‘dry-humping’ and ‘blanket’ jokes that they think never get old.

As far as the myth that Silva won’t handle a wrestler, just take a look at the facts. Dan Henderson is a better wrestler than Chael and infinitely better at every other aspect of the game - and he had nothing for the Spider. Add in the fact, that even if he does get Silva down, Sonnen is very susceptible to being submitted – and you can’t like the politician’s chances.

It seems like people talk themselves into the challenger having a chance every time Silva fights. ‘Henderson has the wrestling and chin’ - ‘Maia has the BJJ needed to submit him’ - ‘Forrest is too big and won’t let him get comfortable.’ The hype is always the same and so is the result: Anderson either annihilates them or humiliates them like a jerk. That’s the way it’s been the last four years and that’s the way it will stay after 117.

If you think this bozo has a chance against the champ, well then, in the words of Judas Priest: you got another thing coming.

Let’s try this again…

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Everything looks to be in the same order I left it – so I got that going for me.

Been awhile…  Let’s see if we can start this thing up again…

Going to start slowly and share some amazing highlights I’ve seen over at CagePotato courtesy of KahL1One.  I’m not very familiar with Kah’s work – but I hope to be seeing a lot more of it.

Wanderlei Silva Highlight:

Keep checking back as we get into the swing of things over here.
