Everything looks to be in the same order I left it – so I got that going for me.
Been awhile… Let’s see if we can start this thing up again…
Going to start slowly and share some amazing highlights I’ve seen over at CagePotato courtesy of KahL1One. I’m not very familiar with Kah’s work – but I hope to be seeing a lot more of it.
GSP Highlight:
Wanderlei Silva Highlight:
Keep checking back as we get into the swing of things over here.
Major props to Intelligently Defending reader Ryan for today’s Video of the Day, a Frank Shamrock and Kenny Florian highlight.
The video was made by Genghis Con who I have been a fan of for awhile now. If you haven’t seen his work you can check it out at his official website. He really does incredible highlight promos.
In response to the MMA One-Hit Wonder post, Kam said:
I see you used Vanilla Ice as your lead in picture to a one hit wonders post. I feel that isn’t a very good choice for a one hit wonder. Vanilla Ice not only had a hit song (Ice Ice Baby) but also a Greatest Hits album and a hit movie (Cool as Ice). I don’t know many one hit wonders who have accomplished as much as Mr. Ice has. Maybe you should have went with another obvious one hit wonder band, such as Marcy’s Playground, it would have added validity to post.
I sense sarcasm in your comment, but fair enough nonetheless. Vanilla Ice also had the Ninja Rap of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II fame - which revolutionized hip-hop as we know it.
I’m not going to lie, I have a lot of respect for the Iceman – no, not Liddell.
All that guy wanted to do was make money and I’ll be damned if he didn’t. He didn’t care what he put his name on – shit, as ashamed as I am to admit it, I remember having a Vanilla Ice doll when I was a kid. He was everywhere you looked back in 1991 and made millions. Sure, he became a laughing stock, but whatever, I saw the Behind the Music and I know he’s still living large from being history’s biggest sell-out. I commend him.
Of course, he also developed a terrible drug problem at one point and nearly OD’d – but, that’s another story.
Anyway, as for Marcy Playground, yea they may have only had one radio hit with Sex and Candy – but they were an awesome band with a bunch of killer songs. Check out the video for St. Joe on the School Bus for proof:
Sorry for the lack of updates this week, things have been a bit hectic.
However, there is always time for a video of the day and since I mentioned Fred Ettish in a post last week and realized that a lot of readers may not know who he is. So, in order to familiarize everyone with the legend, here is the clip of Fred’s first and only UFC appearance.
Note poor Fred standing in the background awaiting his interview time towards the end of the video.
Check back tomorrow for the announcement of the Intelligently Defending UFC 100 Dream Card Contest…
When it comes to Mark Coleman you are guaranteed a few things:
1) He’s going to wrestle - that’s it
2) He will probably be gassed about 3 minutes into a fight
And, most importantly…
3) He is a great interview
Seriously, the guy has had laughing out loud too many times to count. Half the time he isn’t even trying to be funny – but, for whatever reason, I can’t help cracking a smile.
This brings us to this week’s video.
Only minutes after defeating Shogun via freak accident at Pride 31, and nearly inciting a riot between Hammer House and Cute Box in the process, an enraged Coleman went backstage with the cameras rolling. What ensued was comedic gold – take a look…
It’s possible I’m the only person that found this clip so funny, but it never fails to have in stitches.
I’m a little pressed for time today so we’ll pull the old switcheroo and throw out a quick Video of the Day and save The Judge’s Scorecard for tomorrow.
Man, between Dustin’s and Joe Lauzon’s injuries, my favorite fighters are dropping like flies. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for McLovin and a continued recovery for Joe.
Anyway, in honor of Hazelett here is a cool video from YouTube of the top ten MMA arm bars where the Haze makes a cameo at #2.
Check back tomorrow for a new Judge’s Scorecard – topic TBD… any suggestions?
